Olivia Higdon, LCMHCA

Licensed Counselor

Perfectionism isn’t about doing things perfectly—it’s about never feeling good enough, no matter how much you achieve.

I am Olivia Higdon, a Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) and NC Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate. I’m not here to ‘fix’ your perfectionism. I’m here to help you work with it—so it becomes a tool, not a trap.

I provide both in-person counseling at our Winston-Salem office and virtual sessions to older teens and adults in the state of North Carolina. I am so happy to be here with you in this space! I help perfectionists become self-trusting humans again. As a fellow overthinker-in-recovery, I work with high-achievers who are tired of chasing ‘enough’ and never quite getting there. Together, we rewrite the story: from self-doubt and burnout to aligned action, honest rest, and doing great work that doesn’t cost you your wellbeing.

I graduated with my Masters of Health Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Catawba College and prior to working in clinical mental health, I earned a Bachelor’s of Music Therapy from Queens University in Charlotte.

In my spare time, I enjoy singing in my local choir, reading, spending quality time with my loved ones, and appreciating nature however I can.

I look forward to connecting with you and I am grateful to be part of your journey!

My approach to counseling varies based on your concerns, needs, and goals as there is no “one size fits all” method to counseling. It is always grounded in curiosity, empathy, and humility. As an LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC affirming counselor, I strive to create an unbiased, nonjudgmental space. We will work together in safety and trust. I help perfectionists become self-trusting humans again. As a fellow overthinker-in-recovery, I work with high-achievers who are tired of chasing ‘enough’ and never quite getting there.
