Ashley Watts, LCMHCA

Licensed Counselor

Hello and welcome! I am a compassionate, affirming, and person-centered counselor who believes that every individual deserves a safe, supportive space to be heard, understood, and accepted for who they are. I work with clients of all ages and welcome people from all backgrounds, identities, and walks of life. My goal is to build a trusting therapeutic relationship where clients feel empowered to explore their experiences, develop insight, navigate challenges, and create meaningful change.

Having earned an Associate of Science in Zoo Animal Technology from Santa Fe College, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Greensboro College, and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from North Carolina Central University, my diverse educational background has shaped my curiosity about people, relationships, behavior, and the many factors that contribute to individual well-being. My counseling approach is grounded in Person-Centered Therapy, with an emphasis on empathy, authenticity, collaboration, and unconditional positive regard. I also incorporate mindfulness-based techniques and trauma-informed care to help clients develop greater awareness, emotional regulation, resilience, and self-compassion.

Your therapy is tailored to your needs, recognizing that there is no single approach that works for everyone. I support clients age 6+ experiencing a wide range of concerns, including ADHD, anxiety, attachment concerns, depression, grief and loss, trauma, self-esteem, identity formation, neurodiversity, and life transitions. I especially enjoy working with emerging adults and college students as they navigate independence, relationships, education, career decisions, and the many changes that come with early adulthood.

I am LGBTQIA+ affirming and committed to creating an inclusive environment where clients can explore their identities without judgment. I also work with individuals navigating relationship changes, midlife transitions, interpersonal violence, and other significant life experiences. Whether you are seeking support during a difficult transition, working through past experiences, exploring your identity, or simply hoping to better understand yourself, therapy can be a place to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and move forward at your own pace. I believe counseling is a collaborative process, and I am honored to walk alongside clients as they work toward greater self-understanding, healing, and a life that feels more authentic and fulfilling.

I cannot wait to meet you and begin working together.  Use the booking button to connect with my schedule.  See you soon!
