Sara Hepler, MS, NCC, LCMHC

Practice Owner / Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor

I grew up in Texas and Virginia. But of course, as every Texas native knows, I will always claim Texas as home. {Gig'em Aggies!} I have lived in North Carolina for 23 years after initially moving here to go to Salem College. I received a Bachelors degree in Psychology with a minor in Business Administration. After graduating and getting married {in the same year!}, I set out to make a career in Human Resources. I enjoyed the people interaction and problem solving but later came to realize that my particular skill set did not include accounting or finance.

After a quick stint in the world of Trial Consulting {No, I never met Dr. Phil, but I did come close!}, I decided to go back to school. I narrowed down my options to either law school or counseling. After some careful research, planning, lots of deep thinking and prayerful consideration, I entered the University of North Carolina at Greensboro's Counseling and Counselor Education Master's program. My intent was to work as a career counselor so I completed the Student Development track and graduated with honors.

Post-graduation, I obtained my license while working in adoption and foster care. Now, how did I end up there? I am going to go with divine intervention. I was able to dive deeply into family systems work as well as gain extensive knowledge about the power of early attachments. And the rest, as they say, is history.

I have spent the past 10 years working in private practice working with a wide spectrum of issues and struggles ranging from schizophrenia to career coaching. I have worked with families, couples, adolescents, young adults, middle aged adults and the elderly. And, I have had the pleasure and joy of raising two amazing and wonderful boys that will hopefully grow up to be amazing and wonderful men.

I grew into a seasoned counselor that understands a wide variety of issues. One thing became clear along the way though. I have a special gift and find joy in helping people discover themselves. Especially anxious folks or adults who have trauma in their background.

My mission is to provide the best quality care to those who make the brave decision to seek out therapy.
