Lauren Shriver, MS, LCMHCA, NCC

Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate

Lauren Shriver is a graduate of UNC Greensboro’s Counseling and Counselor Education program with a Master’s Degree in Couple and Family Counseling. She is also a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate and National Certified Counselor. Lauren loves to work with couples who are seeking relief from relationship distress as well as those are simply looking for a relationship boost. In addition to couples, Lauren also sees adults over the age of 18 for concerns such as anxiety, depression, spirituality, and relationship concerns all under the direct supervision of Annamarie Gallagher, LPCS.

In her counseling work, Lauren utilizes Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) which is backed by over 20 years of research on attachment and relationship patterns. EFT has been proven to help couples change old habits, communicate in new ways, find security in their relationship, and reestablish connection and trust. Research has shown that 70-75% of couples move from distress to recovery and approximately 90% show significant improvements. Individuals, couples, and families can all reap the benefits of this type of counseling. Lauren fully believes that the client is the expert in their own life and creates an environment of acceptance and trust with her clients.

With a background in music performance as a gifted cellist, Lauren also has a passion for counseling with creatives and musicians. While at UNC Greensboro, she facilitated a connection between the School of Music and the counseling department, offering a group for those affected by performance anxiety. Musicians and artists of all kinds will find her genuinely understanding of the particular stresses and strains of this field of work.
