Trauma Therapy

We all experience negative experiences in life. It’s inevitable. Some are considered “trauma” and leave a lasting mark on our psyche. Many clients don’t identify with the word “trauma” and will describe their childhoods as “perfect” or “wonderful.” While our childhood experiences or other life experiences might be close to perfect, it is impossible to experience total perfection. We are like cars. Brand new off the line but over time, we collect little dents and dings even in the best of circumstances.

We offer several types of therapies and adjunct services that can help major traumas or even dents and dings.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a trauma informed evidence based treatment. EMDR therapy is an interactive psychotherapy technique used to relieve psychological stress. During EMDR therapy sessions, you relive traumatic or triggering experiences in brief doses while the therapist directs your eye movements. Brainspotting is a powerful, focused treatment method that works by identifying, processing and releasing core neurophysiological sources of emotional/body pain, trauma, dissociation and a variety of other challenging symptoms. Click here to learn more about this type of therapy.

Expressive Arts and Movement are wonderful ways to connect to trauma or difficult experiences in safe and meaningful ways.

Mindfulness and mind-body connection are also very useful in the healing process and we have practitioners here who can help those who have experienced trauma heal.
